Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh — India is poised to make a significant leap in quantum technology with the inauguration of its first Quantum Valley Tech Park in Amaravati, scheduled for January 1, 2026. This ambitious project, a collaboration between the Government of Andhra Pradesh, IBM, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and Larsen & Toubro (L&T), aims to position India as a global leader in quantum computing and innovation.
A Hub for Quantum Innovation
India’s Quantum Valley Tech Park is set to host the nation’s most advanced quantum computer yet—IBM’s Quantum System Two, powered by a 156-qubit Heron processor. This state-of-the-art system is expected to catalyze advancements in various sectors, including life sciences, energy optimization, materials science, cryptography, and sustainable manufacturing.
TCS will collaborate with IBM to develop quantum algorithms and applications tailored to India’s unique challenges. Dr. Harrick Vin, Chief Technology Officer at TCS, emphasized the importance of hybrid computing architectures, stating, “Hybrid architectures are crucial to addressing complex computational problems, with quantum computing playing a pivotal role.”
Infrastructure and Educational Initiatives
The government of Andhra Pradesh has designated 50 acres in Amaravati to develop the Quantum Valley Tech Park. L&T is tasked with constructing the main infrastructure, ensuring the facility meets international standards.
In alignment with the tech park’s objectives, Andhra University plans to introduce engineering programs in quantum computing starting from the 2025-26 academic year. This initiative aims to cultivate a skilled workforce ready to engage with emerging quantum technologies.
Aligning with National Goals
The creation of the Quantum Valley Tech Park supports India’s National Quantum Mission, aiming to establish the nation as a global leader in quantum research and innovation. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu remarked, “Our National Quantum Mission aims to establish India as a leading global centre for quantum innovation and job creation, providing technology solutions to address critical challenges facing India and the world.”
